sjúklinga nákvæmar og teljum við það vera styrk
rannsóknarinnar. Þörf er á stórri framskyggnri
rannsókn þar sem borin væru saman mismunandi
meðferðarúrræði við lokastigsnýrnabilun og fæli í
sér nákvæmar upplýsingar um kostnað og klíníska
útkomu allra sjúklinga.
Rannsókn okkar staðfestir að hér sem annars
staðar er ígræðsla nýra hagkvæmasta meðferð
við lokastigsnýrnabilun. Það er því mikilvægt að
fjölga nýrnaígræðslum en til þess þarf að finna
leiðir til að fjölga líffæragjöfum. Engu að síður er
ljóst að sjúklingum í skilun mun fjölga á næstu
árum og því nauðsynlegt að auka hagkvæmni
þeirrar meðferðar. Því væri gagnlegt að meta
kostnaðarvirkni blóðskilunar og kviðskilunar.
Kostnaðarvirknigreining gæti ennfremur gagnast
við forgangsröðun í heilbrigðisþjónustu sem
verður æ meira áríðandi í ljósi vaxandi útgjalda til
heilbrigðismála, ekki síst í erfiðu efnahagsástandi.
