INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS
Manuscripts. The editorial board of
Archaeologia Islandica welcomes all
scientific papers regarding Icelandic
archaeology and related fields. Each
paper will be revised by two specialists
chosen by the editor.
Articles can be written in any of the
Scandinavian languages, English,
French and German. An abstract not
exceeding 150 words should precede
each article.
Manuscripts should be addressed to:
Editor of Archaeologia Islandica,
Institute of Archaeology, Bárugötu 3,
101 Reykjavik, ICELAND.
Illustrations. All illustrations should
be given arabic numbers (Fig.l).
References. The reference system used
is as follows: In text: Buckland (1995),
Buckland & Perry (1989) for two aut-
hors, and Buckland et al. (1994) for
more than two authors. In case of
Icelandic names, use first name as well
as family name: Þór Magnússon
(1995). Reference to page: Morris
(1995,123)
Bibliography should be given in the
alphabetical order of the language of
the main text. In case of Icelandic
names beginning with Á, í, Ó, Ú, Ý,
Þ, Æ or Ö, the order of reference
should conform to the place of these
letters in the Icelandic alphabet:
AÁBCDÐEÉFGHIÍJKLMNOÓPQRS
TUÚVWXYÝZÞÆÖ.
The year is to appear immediately
after the author’s name, then book title
in italics, followed by town. Follow
the punctuation given in the example
below:
Guðrún Sveinbjarnardóttir (1992)
Farm Abandonment in Medieval and
Post-Medieval lceland: an Interdisciplin-
ary Study (Oxbow Monograph 17), Ox-
ford.
Titles of articles should be in quota-
tion marks, followed by the name (in
italics), volume number of journal, and
then page number:
Mjöll Snæsdóttir (1989) „Stóraborg.
En presentation", Hikuin XV, 53-58.
Proofs. Authors will receive a copy
of the first proof. A second proof can
only be considered in exceptional
cases.
