line to the southernmost point of Langjökull, and thence along the south-western
border of Langjökull; from the south-western point of Langjökull the boundary ap-
pears as a straight line to the head of Hvalfjörður (at Botnsá).
District 2. West Iceland. The coast from the head of Hvalfjörður to the
head of Gilsfjörður; then a line from Gilsfjörður to the head of Bitrufjörður,
near the head of the great fiord Húnaflói; the coast from Bitrufjörður to the head
of Hrútafjörður. From here along Hrútafjarðará from Grænamýrartunga to Hæðar-
steinn and from Hæðarsteinn to the north-western point of Eiriksjökull, thence along
the western border of Eiriksjökull, across Flosaskarð, and along the western border
of Langjökull. The boundary to the south is the line from Langjökull to the head
of Hvalfjörður (see under District 1).
District 3. North-west Iceland (Vestfirðir). On the south-east the Iine
between Gilsfjörður and Bitrufjörður (see under District 2) is the boundary, other-
wise the coastal line. The island Flatey and surrounding islets in Breiðifjörður are
included in District 3.
District 4. North Iceland, western part. The coast from the head
of Hrútafjörður to the head of Eyjafjörður. To the east the boundary is Eyja-
fjarðará from the mouth to Ullarvötn (Vatnahjalli), to the south a line drawn
from Ullarvötn to Friðmundarvötn, and from there on to Grænamýrartunga at
Hrútafjarðará. To the west Hrútafjarðará from Grænamýrartúnga to the head of
Hrútafjörður is the boundary.
District 5. North Iceland, eastern part. The coast from the head
of Eyjafjörður to the mouth of Jökulsá á Fjöllum. To the east Jökulsá á Fjöllum
from the mouth to Grímsstaðir, from there in a straight line past Bláfell to Vatna-
hjalli (Ullarvötn), and thence along Eyjafjarðará to the mouth of that river.
District 6. North-east Iceland. The coast from the mouth of Jökulsá á
Fjöllum to the mouth of Jökulsá á Brú. To the east the boundary is Jökulsá á
Brú from the mouth to Brú; to the south a straight line from Brú to Möðrudalur
at Jökulsá á Fjöllum. The western boundary runs along the last-named river, from
Möðrudalur to the mouth.
District 7. East Iceland. The coast from Eystrahorn (Hvalnes) in the
south to the mouth of Jökulsá á Brú in the north. On the north-west the boundary-
line is drawn along Jökulsá á Brú from the mouth to Brú á Jökuldalur, from Brú
to the north-eastern point of Þrándarjökull, and from Þrándarjökull to Hofsjökull;
thence on to Hvalnes across Lónsheiði.
District 8. South-eastern Iceland. The coast from Hvalnes to Núps-
vötn. The inland boundary lines are mainly made up of the southern and south-
eastern border of the great ice-field Vatnajökull; to the north-east the district
boundaries are the above-mentioned line from Hofsjökull to Hvalnes and a line
drawn across the water-shed between Hofsjökull and Vatnajökull. The western
boundary line runs along Núpsvötn, from the sea coast to Skeiðarárjökull.
District 9. South Iceland, eastern part. The coast from Núpsvötn
to the mouth of Jökulsá south of Mýrdalsjökull. The inland boundaries are, to
