Flora Dan. tab. 2742.
Icelandic : Vatnalaukur. Danish : Sortgron Brasenfode. English : Quillwort.
This species is recorded by Hooker, 1811, vol. I, p. 208. From Þingvallavatn : “near
the southern end of the Almannagjá, sparingly”, but it will be remembered that Hooker
lost his collection of plants, and there are no specimens in existence by which to
solve the question of the identity of the plants
found by Hooker.
In recent times 7. lacustris has been found at
Skorradalsvatn, S.W. (S.S., 1935).; amongst ma-
teria) of E. echinospora, collected at the same lake
in the year 1925 by L. Guðmundsson skólastjóri
(teacher), I also found specimens which I could
refer to 7. lacustris. The plants collected by L.
Guðmundsson were taken from material washed
ashore. When Steindórsson visited the lake in 1935,
he also found much material of 7. lacustris thrown
up on land, and he is of opinion that it grows
abundantly on the bottom of the lake (S.S., loc.
cit., p. 36). In 1937 another locality was found by Ing. Óskarsson and Dr. Emil
Hadað at Litla Grænavatn on the Reykjanes peninsula (I.Ó., loc. cit., E.H., 1938,
p. 5). In 1937 it was found too by Dr. E. Hadað at Gestsstaðavatn west of Græna-
vatn (E.H., 1938, 1. c.). A record from Þingvallavatn is uncertain. See fig. 18.
In O. & Gr., 1934, p. 2. 7. lacustris is erroneously recorded from N. Icel.
Life-form: HH. (Hydrophyte).
In shallow water, on the bottom of lakes and pools.
Length of leaves from 5 to 12 cm.
Geogr. area : North America?—Greenl.: W. 60°31'.—Eur.: Fær.; E.S.I.; Scandi-
navia to central and western Eur.; Pyrenees, Ural.

Ophioglossaceae.
Botrychium boreale Milde.
Ing. Óskarsson, 1938, p. 132.
In the summer of 1915 Ingimar Óskarsson found, between Hnjúkur and Klængs-
hóll in Skíðadalur, N., a specimen of Botrychium which he referred to this species.
Unfortunately I.Ó. lost this specimen before its identity had been fully established.
