Specimens found at Blönduós, N. (A.F.) and recorded by Bennet and Stefánsson,
are kept in H.H. The culms measure about 60 cm.—Accidentally introduced.
Bromus tectorum Linn.
In H.R. there is a single specimen of this plant, collected at Járngerðarstaðir
near Grindavík, S. (B.S., 1895), cp. Stefánsson, Fl. Isl., ed. 2, 1924, p. 58.

Common in all parts, in the lowland as well as the central highland.
In moist, gravelly depressions at a higher level it is often the main plant, but
usually it grows rather scattered.
Life-form: H.
On moors, on moist, sandy soil, in jaðar and halla mýri: by lakes on sandy and
gravelly soil, on the banks of brooks.

Max. height: 70 cm; average : 30 cm.
Geogr. area: Am.: Labrador to Alaska, southward to Oregon, Colorado and Maine.—
Greenl. : W. 61°—71°22\—E. 60°—74°10\—Eur.: E.S.I.; northern and central
Europe, Jan Mayen, Spitsbergen, Bear Island, Novaya Zemlya.—Asia: Northern
and eastern regions, southward to Mongolia, Dahuria, Amur province, Sakhalin,
Kamchatka, Hokkaido.
