Ph. algida has hitherto been considered very rare, but in the last few years the
investigations have shown that it is fairly common in certain tracts. Thus it has
recently been found in several places in the Snæfell section, in E. Iceland; also in
the hills west of Eyjafjörður it is known from numerous localities. In the central
plateau is has been found at Orravatnarústir north of Hofsjökull and on Arnarfell
hið mikla on the south-eastern border of Hofsjökull. See fig. 46. Altogether it may
be supposed to be fairly common in the highland.
Life-form: H.
In wet places near the border of the thawing snow of the jökulls; usually at a
higher level in the hills.
