First found by Gronlund at Helluvað near Mývatn, N. (1876).
Very common in the parts around Eyjafjörður and Mývatn, N.; elsewhere it
seems to be very rare; see fig. 55.
From central Icel. it is recorded from a few places only: Orravatnarústir (D. 13) ;
Arnarfell hið mikla (D. 11).
Life-form: G. (Rhizome Geophyte).
On dry or moderately moist grassland.
Flor. VI—VII; fr. mat. VII—VIII.
Max. height: 40 cm ; average : 24 cm.
Geogr. area: Am. : Northern N. America, Labrador to Alaska; Rocky Mountains,
Calif., Nevada, Washington. S. Am.: Andes of Bolivia, Argentina, Tierra del Fuego.
