Common in most parts of the country.
The Icelandic plants apparently in most cases belong to the main species; but
transitional forms to var. confusa (Lindeb.) Kjellman, Vega Exped. vet. iaktt. I,
1882, p. 277, also are met with, and even typical specimens of var. confusa may
occur.
Life-form: H.
In gravelly places, in the mó-vegetation; alpine heaths, fell-field, especially at a
somewhat high level.

Max. height: 30 cm ; average: 13 cm.

Specimens belonging to the earlier collections and determined as L. camþestris must
be placed under L. multiflora; the true L. campestris has not as yet been found in
Iceland. See also under L. multiflora.

Common in all parts, in the lowland as well as the central highland, Specimens
which have a rather close resemblance to f. congesta are found in several places,
both in the lowland and in the central parts.
var. þallescens Hoppe is recorded from Hrappsey, W. (coll. G.M.) ; cp. also Bennet,
1890, p. 81.
