Common in all parts, in the central highland also. Although this species is a
typical arctic plant and is found in Iceland high up in the mountains, for instance
on the Kerlingarfjöll massive at 1000 m s. m., it is also common in the lowland.
Even on the banks of brooks with warm water from the hot springs I have observed
it, in places where the temperature of the running water was about 70° C. (Reykir
at Álafoss, northeast of Reykjavík, 1934).
Life-form: Th.
On moist, clayey soil, along brooks, on the borders of small lakes, often abundantly
in mosses lining small streams; home-fields, in moist depressions in fell-field.
