Rather variable; dwarfy specimens (f. þygmaea) are often met with in meagre
soil, and the following forms may also be found in Icel.:
f. integrifolia, with entire rosette-leaves, rather frequent.
f. sinuata, with rosette-leaves with + strongly wavy margins, and
f. pinnatifida, with the leaves deeply cut into segments nearly to the midrib.
Common in all parts within the cultivated areas; not present in the central
highland.
Life-form: Th.
Weed on cultivated ground, in gardens, around houses and farms, on earthen
walls, etc.

Max. height: 50 cm; average: 12 cm.
Geogr. area: Am. : Throughout N. Am. (naturalized from Eur.). S. Am. : Chile.—
Greenl.: W. (accidentally introduced in the southern parts).—Eur.: Fær.; E.S.I.;
Scandinavia from North Cape southward throughout Eur.—Asia.—Australia and
New Zealand (introduced and naturalized).

This species was first recorded by K. & M., and Steenstrup (1840—41) gathered
specimens (without locality). The last few years have seen several new localities
added to those formerly known, and it would seem to be rather common, at least
