Common in all parts, in the lowland as well as the central highland; often high
up in the hills.

On dry slopes, in rocky places, fell-field, heath-moors, snow-patches.

This species is recorded in Lindsay’s and Preyer & Zirkel’s lists, loc. cit. ; Ba-
bington doubts its being found in Iceland, and it is not altogether probable that it
would grow there. It should be excluded from the Icelandic flora.

The first specimens of this plant seem to have been collectcd in Iccland at
Scyðisfjörður (specimens in Ól. Davíðsson’s collection). Cp. Rostrup, loc. cit. In
E. it is found in many places and is even frequent in some tracts. In S. it is found
