In Iceland Potentilla Egedii is represented by two distinct varieties, viz. var.
eu-Egedii and var. groenlandica (Tratt.) :
Var. eu-Egedii: Leaves green, like the calyx glabrous or nearly so. Leaflets few,
often with only 3—4 broad and obtuse (rounded-triangular) teeth on either side.
Small and slender of stature.
Var. groenlandica (Tratt.) leaves white felty, not glossy, on the lower surface. Leaf-
lets with several teeth on either side; the teeth narrow and long, curved towards
the tip, and with a hyaline mucro. Calyx with scattered hairs.
Occurring in some places in N. Iceland ; in the other parts found only in one
place, Hvítárvellir in Borgarfjörður (A.F., 1886). See fig. 112.

In strand meadows and on sea beaches.

Recorded by P. & Z., loc. cit., but no authority is quoted. Babington, 1871,
loc. cit., has entered it in his list, following P. & Z. It should be excluded from the
