First found at Þjórsárholt, S.W. (A.F., 1886). None of the specimens hitherto
observed in Iceland have been flowering, or have even had flower-buds. As for the
localities recorded see fig. 118.
Life-form : H.
In grassy places.
Max. height: 30 cm; average: ca. 20 cm.
Geogr. area: Am. : Newfoundland to Alaska, southward to New York, S. Dakota,
Brit. Columbia.—Eur.: E.S.I.; northem and central Eur., southward to Spain,
central Italy, Ukraine, Caucasus.—Asia: Arctic Siberia to Kamchafka, Sakhalin
and S. Japan.

Found in a good many places in S. in the country south of Mýrdalsjökull, other-
wise very rare, see fig. 118. Probably introduced with seeds, as it is often found in
cultivated areas or near inhabited places.

In scrub, grassy slopes, home-fields, etc.
