As will be seen from fig. 121 this species has a very remarkable distribution in
Iceland, occurring as it does:
1) In Fellströnd in Dalasýsla, W.—2) On the coast of Eyjafjörður (western side)
and in the valley south of the head of the fiord, N.—3) At the southern end of
Lake Lagarfljót, and in Reyðarfjörður, E.—4) In South Iceland in several places
from Grindavík in the west to Stáfafell in the east, especially in the parts around
Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull; also on the Vestmannaeyjar.
Life-form: Th.
On grassy slopes and herb-slopes, in pastures.

Max. height: 30 cm ; average : 11 cm.
Geogr. area: Am. : (naturalized from Eur.), Nova Scotia, Ontario.—Eur.: Fær.;
E.S.I. ; Scandinavia from ca. 60° N., southward to Italy and Spain, Balkans, Cau-
casus.—Asia: Western Asia to Persia,—N. Africa, Canary Isl.

This species was first recorded by K. & M., loc. cit., and it has been included
in some of the older lists. Symington, according to Babington, loc. cit., found it at
Seyðisfjörður, E.

It has not been subsequently observed in Iceland.

Recorded by K. & M., loc. cit., without locality and included in all the older
lists. A. Feddersen found it at Laxá, N., 1884. It is rare in Iceland, only found in
two places in N.W., and in some few places, in N. (especially in Laxá and at
Mývatn). In S. one locality (Landmannahellir) is recorded by Steindórsson (1933,
p. 38). See fig. 122.
