Patreksfjörður, N.W. (Knud Jessen, 1908). Specimens in flower, 7—9 cm high,
are kept in H.H.

Recorded in the older lists under the name E. officinalis L., E. parviflora Fr.,
and some other names, cp. Babington, loc. cit.
Icelandic : Augnfró. Danish : Læge-0jentrost. English : Eyebright.
It is the commonest species of this genus, and met with throughout Iceland, at
least in the lowland. It also occurs in the central highland. Thus it is found at
Hveravellir (Romose, 1935), Kjalhraun (Þorkelsson, 1906), Eyjabakkar (J.Gr.,
1935).
Highly varying. According to Pugsley, loc. cit., the following varieties occur in
Iceland :
var. subcurta (Jorgensen) Pugsley, with narrow and more hirsute leaves (Pugsley,
1933, p. 306). Illustr. in Jorgensen, Euphr. Norweg., 1919, tab. VIII, figg. k—o.
var. laxa Pugsl., plant laxer, with more equal internodes and leaves (Pugsley,
1933, p. 307). Illustr. in Pugsley, 1930, tab. 27, figg. a—e.
var. attenuata Pugsl., leaves more finely cut, and the capsules narrowly oblong
and subtruncate (cp. Pugsley, 1933, p. 307).
var. þusilla Pugsl., plant dwarfish, with simple stem and few leaves and flowers
(cp. Pugsley, 1933, p. 307). Illustr. in Wettstein, loc. cit., tab. XI, fig. 12.
