SAMANDREGIÐ YFIRLIT
Tilgangurinn með verkefni þessu var að rannsaka vöxt,
þroska, meltanleika og efnamagn snarrótar á mismunandi
tíma (6. júlí og um 20. ágúst) í tveim sniðum: Annað í 30—
320 m hæð í Svarfaðardal og hitt í 50—550 m hæð yfir sjó-
línu í Kerlingarfjalli í Eyjafirði.
Niðurstöður sýndu að meltanleiki snarrótarinnar minnk-
aði eftir því sem á leið sumarið en sú minnkun var minni
til fjalla en niður í byggð. Þá kom í ljós, að á sama tíma og
í sömu hæð var meltanleikinn mun hærri í útsveit (Svarf-
aðardal) en í innsveit (Kerling). Var meltanleikinn t. d.
næstum sá sami í sömu hæð þann 6. júlí í Kerlingu og hann
var þann 19. ágúst í Svarfaðardal.
Að öðru leyti en því, að prótein- og kalsíummagn snarr-
ótar þann 23. ágúst í Kerlingu jókst nokkuð með hæð, kom
ekki fram greinilegur munur á efnamagni með aukinni hæð
yfir sjávarmál.
SUMMARY
The title o£ this paper is: Digestibility and chemical composition
of Deschampsia caespitosa growing at various elevations.
The purpose of this work was to investigate growth, maturity, digest-
ibility (in vitro) and chemical composition (protein, P, Ca, Mg, K,
Na, Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu) of D. caespitosa at two different tutting times
(6th July and about 20th August) during the sommer 1973, and at two
different locations: One at Hofsárkot, where elevations of six sampling
sites extended from 30 to 320 meters and the other iti Kerling
(a mountain) in Eyjafjörður, where elevations of eleven sampling sites
extended from 50 to 550 meters. From meteriological standpoint, it
is most important to point out, thot Hofsárkot is much closer to the
open sea in the north, where as Kerling would be referred to as an
inland area.
The results of the relationship between time of cutting, digest-
ibility and elevations at both locations can be visualized from „Mynd 2“
(Fig. 2), where on the X axis we have the elevations in meters on the
Y axis the in vitro OMD values, the restpresumably being self explana-
