Hún hefur lokið M.A.-prófi í mannauðsstjórnun frá Háskóla Íslands, cand. mag. prófi í þýsku frá Kaupmannahafnarháskóla, B.A.-prófi í þýsku frá HÍ og námi í uppeldis- og kennslufræðum til kennsluréttinda frá HÍ. Helstu verkefni Guðfinnu hjá FA tengjast gæðamálum og kennslufræði fullorðinna. Áður starfaði hún sem sér- fræðingur hjá Sambandi íslenskra sveitarfélaga og Hagstofu Íslands og sem þýskukennari við Verzlunarskóla Íslands. A B S T R A C T The results of the first PIAAC, a comprehensive international survey of the basic skills of adults were published by the OECD on 8th. October, 2013. They show that the level of basic skills that adults have differs from country to country and that individuals with lower proficiency in basic skills are more likely to have low earnings, be unemployed and report poor health than those with better proficiency in basic skills. Among OECD’s recommendations to policy makers are to provide high-quality early childhood education, provide easy-to-find information about adult education activities and promote educational attainment. In a rapid changing society it is vital to update skills as unused skills can become obso- lete or atrophy.
