Secretary’s Report 1933-34
The fourth annual meeting of the Faleon
Athletic Association was held on Tuesday,
April 4th, at the I.O.G.T. Hall, with a grati-
fying attendance. Various reports sub-
mitted showed that the Club had progressed
favorably throughout the year. Changes
in the constitution were made, the most im-
portant being:—
1. The annual meeting to be held not
later than the first week in April instead
of the first week in February.
2. The membership fees to fall due on
the first day of May instead of the first
day of March.
3. Annual membership fee to be,
Men $1.00; Women $1.00; Juniors 50c;
instead of Men $2.00; Women $1.00;
Juniors 50c.
The officers elected for the new year
were: Hon. Pres., W. J. Lindal; Pres., P.
Sigurdson; Vice-Pres., Dr. A. Blondal;
Treas., S. Sigmundson; Secretary, C. Hall-
son; Asst. Secretary, S. Anderson; Execu-
tive Members, J. Snydal, Dr. P. H. T. Thor-
lakson, H. Bjarnason, O. G. Bjornson.
Committees appointed later in the year
were: Finance, K. Thorlakson, S. Sigmund-
son; Membership, C. Hallson, P. Sigurdson,
S. Anderson; Social, S. Anderson, S. Stur-
laugson, C. Hallson.
The first activity of the season was in
Diamond Ball. Teams were entered in the
Senior and Intermediate Leagues. — The
club also fostered a íour-team league at
Sargent Park. The Senior team, coached
by Gordon Caslake, assisted by Tommy Dini-
col, made a splendid effort in the fight for
the title by reaching the semi-finals.—The
Intermediate team, coached by S. Sigmund-
son, placed second in both series, and were
praised by officials as the most improved
team in the league, at the close of the sea-
son. The Giants, captained by Skuli Ander-
son were successful in winning the Sargent
Park League championship.
Our Gymnasium re.opened in October,
and the attendance in both sections was
quite encouraging. Shortly after, the Giris’
classes were moved from the I.O.G.T. Hall
to the Federated Church, Banning and Sar-
gent. Mr. K. Kristjánsson was secured to
instruct the Boys and Men's classes, Mr.
Ackland taking full charge of the Girls.
This winter the Falcon Athletic Associa-
tion is supporting the Vikings Senior “B”
Hockey team, and also a Junior Boys, 16
years and under, League at the Sherburn
Park Rink. At the present time the Vikings
are in third place with a good chance to
win a play-off berth.
Mr. P. Sigurdson is at present preparing a
team to defend the Millennial Trophy, which
was won from Glenboro last year. It is
earnestly hoped that the series this year will
be as keenly contested and as interesting as
in former years.
The active membership of the Falcon Ath-
letic Association which now stands at 65
Junior and Senior Girls, and 70 Junior and
Senior men is very encouraging and every
hope is held for the success of the club in
the future.
Carl Hallson, secretary.
