a successful and workable conclusion as their votes expressed. This
desire to keep this camp entirely as our own, needs more than just voting.
It is a great project and deserves our greatest efforts.
I have not had reports as yet from members of our committee out-
side of Winnipeg but I no doubt will hear of various efforts to raise
funds, for money is vitally needed:
The Winnipeg members of this Camp committee, together with the
Senior and Junior Ladies Aids, and the Missionary Society of the First
Lutheran Church of Winnipeg contributed $120.00 to our fund, realized
from a tea and art display held at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Eylands,
May 31st last. We are deeply grateful to all who helped make this tea
such a success.
Mrs. Danielson will report all money received throughout the year
towards our camp fund.
The site, ten miles north of Gimli, has been bought and paid for
and is our property. I am sure it will prove a good investment.
We regret to report that a leadership class could not be organized
this summer. We again met the sarne difficulties as last summer, as con-
ditions regarding farm help etc. have not changed. Procuring a camp
site was quite as difficult. Our only suitable camp was not procurable
before the 21st of August. This date was felt to be much too late for
all concerned.
Much, in past years, has been said and written about the importance
of organizing our young people for training in Christian Leadership.
It has been proven that we must build the church of tomorrow in the
hearts of our children of today. Hence our camp project was begun.
Its importance cannot be stressed too much nor too often. We' have
adopted this project and must keep it ever before us as members of a
church body. Everything possible must be done to emphasize this.
We must ever keep the importance and necessity for this camp
before us in all our activities.
We must preach and teach the necessity for Christian Leadership
and the training of Christian workers in our churches.
We must do all we can to increase enthusiasm for this project.
We must do all we can to raise money for it. Our buildings will call
for a great deal of money — money can be raised, Ladies, lots of it, if
you all put your hearts into the effort. We cannot build until this war is
over, but let us be well prepared when we begin — let our souls be full
of hope and gratitude — our eyes looking to the future — with God’s help
let us bring this to a grand realization in His name.
