SUMMARY
Notes on some Icelandic plants and their distribution, especially in Eastern-Iceland
by Eyþór Einarsson
Museum of Natural History, Reykjavik.
Nr. 1, Andreaea blyltii Br. ir Sch., found in one locality in E.-Iceland, is a
new species to the Icelandic flora. The author agrees with Steindórsson and
Óskarsson as to the identity of at least some of tlie Icelandic representatives of
Nr. 8, Ruppia maritima L., with the American variety R. maritima L. var
longipes ILagstr. Nr. 14, Juncus squarrosus L., Nr. 23, Lathyrus palustris L. and
Nr. 27, Ajuga pyramidalis L., are reported from new localities in E.-Iceland and
the vegetation in these localities described sporadically.
Ohservations made in some localities in E.-Iceland where Nr. 16, Cerastium
arclicum Lge. and C. alpinum L. were growing alrnost side by side at 650—700
m alt. made it clear, that in these localities these two species could easily and
almost by the naked eye be separated in the field; Ceraslium articum Lge. is
therefore, according to the opinion of tlie autlior, a good species. These speci-
mens from E.-Iceland belong all to the variety C. arcticum Lge. var. arcticum
Hult.
Nr. 18, Ranunculus auricomus L., is reported from new localities in E.-Ice-
land and the ecology and distribution of the species is discussed at little because
the Iceland population of the species seems to be somewhat different ecologically
froni other populations, all the Icelandic localities for the species are situated
on dry and gravelly mountain slopes, where the vegetation is very sparse.
No. 20, Cardamine bellidifolia L., is reported for the first time from E.-Iceland.
According to some authors the identification of the Iceland population of Nr.
26, Viola riviniana Rchb., with that species has been a little doubtful. The
present auhor has investigated specimens from one locality in E.-Iceland and
is of the opinion that they belong all to this species, Viola riviniana Rchb.
Nr. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22 and 25 are here reported
from new localities.
