• Almennt séð virðast vera minni líkur á blæð-
ingu eftir fæðingu og alvarlegum spangarrifum
hjá konum, sem ætla sér að fæða á ljósmæðra-
stýrðum einingum en hjá þeim sem ætla að
fæða á þverfræðilegri fæðingardeild.
• Upplýsa ætti konur um útkomu fæðinga á ólík-
um fæðingarstöðum, þar á meðal um lága inn-
gripatíðni og góða útkomu kvenna sem ætla
að fæða á ljósmæðrastýrðum einingum, en að
rannsóknir skorti tölfræðilegan styrk til að full-
yrða um sjaldgæfar útkomubreytur nýbura.
