Um höfundana
Leifur A. Símonarson (f. 1941) lauk magistersprófi í jarð-
fræði frá Kaupmannahafnarháskóla 1971 og licentitat-
prófi frá sama skóla 1978. Hann er nú prófessor í
steingervingafræði við Háskóla Íslands og hefur einkum
fengist við rannsóknir á tertíerflóru Íslands og sælin-
dýrafánum frá síðari hluta tertíer, ísöld og nútíma á
Íslandi og Grænlandi.
Jón Eiríksson (f. 1944) lauk BS-prófi í jarðfræði frá
Háskóla Íslands 1973 og Ph.D.-prófi í jarðfræði frá Uni-
versity of East Anglia í Norwich 1979. Hann er vísinda-
maður við Jarðvísindastofnun Háskólans, og hefur
stundað rannsóknir á sjávarseti við Ísland, ásamt loft-
lagssögu og ísaldarjarðfræði.
