Um höfundana
Árný Erla Sveinbjörnsdóttir (f. 1953) lauk BS-prófi í
jarðfræði frá Háskóla Íslands 1978 og doktorsprófi í
jarðefnafræði frá University of East Anglia í Norwich,
Englandi 1983. Hún starfaði við jarðhitarannsóknir hjá
Orkustofnun (nú Isor) á árunum 1984–1985 og hefur
starfað hjá Raunvísindastofnun Háskólans frá 1986,
einkum við rannsóknir á samsætum súrefnis og vetnis
í vatni og við aldursgreiningar með 14C-aðferð.
Sigfús Jóhann Johnsen (f. 1940) lauk cand.scient.-prófi
í eðlisfræði frá Kaupmannahafnarháskóla 1966. Hann
starfaði í Kaupmannahöfn til 1989 og síðan jafnframt
við Háskóla Íslands. Árið 2010 var Sigfús gerður að
heiðursdoktor við Jarðvísindadeild Háskóla Íslands.
Hann hefur einkum stundað rannsóknir á fornveður-
fari út frá ískjörnum úr Grænlandsjökli og hefur hann-
að ísborana sem þar hafa dugað best.
