SUMMARY In 1904, Dr Willard Fiske, a professor at Cornell University in the USA, bequeathed part of his antiquities collection, 144 items in all, to the National Museum of Iceland. Many of them are of Egyptian origin, and are discussed in this article. Fiske collected them during his travels in Egypt in 1867-98. Some of them date from the New Kingdom, but most are more recent. Only one, No. 16, and part of No. 55 could date from the Middle Kingdom period. No. 52 could also be of a similar date. The most recent items, No. 11 and No. 97, are from the Byzantine period. Items Nos. 1-6 are probably souvenirs bought by Fiske on his travels. Nos. 57-66 are 19th century metalwork surrounding old seals and amulets. Only one item, No. 107, is known to be a fake. The article describes the items, giving their measurements in centi- metres (hæð: height; lengd: length; breidd: breadth; þykkt: thickness). Occasionally the dia- meter (þvermál) is given. The numbers of the items correspond to those used in the article.
