Bláhamars little book is an important contribution
to the literature about the Second World War in the
Faroes. The first Faroese edition was published in
Tórshavn in 1952; a second edition followed in
1979. A Swedish edition was published in 1982 and
a German one in 1989>

Fríðrikur Bláhamar, * Febr. 16, 1902, Elduvík, ( July
6, 1981, Vestmanna. Faroese sailor and ship owner.
Bláhamar took his Skipper’s exam in Tórshavn in
1926 and gained his Master’s certificate in 1930. In
1924-25 he attended the Faroese Folk-High School.
During the Second World War he sailed with fish
from Iceland to the UK. After the war Bláhamar
became a ship owner and committed himself to
politics. From 1945 to 1958 he was a member of the
Løgting for Fólkaflokkurin. ”A Dangerous Voyage”
was his only book
