give any sources for his description; his account of
the Faroes is undoubtedly based upon the English
translation of Lucas Debes’ famous work "Færøe et
Færoa reserata”, London 1676. Guy Miege (1644-
1718?) was a Swiss diplomat and writer who spent
several years in British diplomatic services and who
published a number of historic works and language
studies>
