Arnþór Garðarsson (1938–2022) var dýrafræðingur.
Hann tók BS-próf (Hons.) við háskólann í Bristol á
Englandi 1962, Ph.D.-próf við Kalíforníuháskóla í Berkely
í Bandaríkjunum 1971. Hann starfaði sem sérfræðingur
við Náttúrufræðistofnun Íslands 1962–1973 og var pró-
fessor í dýrafræði við Háskóla Íslands 1974–2008.
UM HÖFUNDINN
Ljúft er og skylt að þakka fjölmörgum samstarfsmönnum og aðstoðarmönnum
sem lögðu hönd á plóginn við að rannsaka og vakta endurnar á Mývatni og
umhverfi þeirra um áratugi. Sérstaklega skulu hér nefnd þau Árni Einarsson,
