jurtaæta, en hann virðist samt ekki
vera fæða sortulóarinnar. Gögnin frá
Möðruvöllum benda til þess að
sortulóin lifi aðallega á kengmori í
túnum og blámori í úthaga.
SUMMARY
Erigone atra, the most common
spider species in Icelandic hay-
fields.
This report is based on foreign and
Icelandic literature on the linyphiid spi-
der Erigone atra, along with collections of
invertebrates in pitfall traps in hayfields
and pastures at the Agricultural Rese-
arch Institute, Möðmvellir, Eyjafjörður,
northem Iceland, in 1996- 1997. E. atra is
the dominating spider species in mana-
ged hayfields in northern Iceland,
constituting about 80% of the spider
population, whereas other spider species
dominate in pastures, E. atra being only
about 10% of the spider population
there. In the hayfields almost 4 speci-
mens of E. atra were collected per day
during the activity peak in spring, but in
pastures only 0,8 specimens were collect-
ed per day at the peak of activity (Fig. 3).
Two clear peaks in activity are visible in
spring, the first at the end of May, the
second at the end of June, and the third
and smaller one at the end of July. These
activity peaks may be related to
temperature peaks (Fig. 4). A small
autumn generation peaks in end of Sept-
ember and is much clearer in hayfields
than pastures. The number of E. atra is
linked to the number of Prostigmata
mites where Winter grain mite (Pent-
haleus major) is dominating. Feeding ex-
periments proved that P. major is not a
food source for E. atra, and the results
from the trapping experiment indicate
that E. atra might mainly feed on
Collembola, Entomobryidae in hayfields
and possibly Poduridae in pastures.

aður stuðningur við forverkefnið „Lifir sortulóin (Erigone atrci) á
túnamítli (Penthaleus major) í íslenskum túnum?"
