Rúnarsteinur í Fámjin
Innskriftin, ið er D P S F, verður lisin sum forbókstavir
í navni á einum manni í Fámjin, og verður hildið, at stein-
urin er gravsteinur settur hesum manni til áminningar.
SUMMARY
A runic stone from Fámjin, Suðuroy, is discussed. Before
being deposited in the church, the stone had been laying in
the churchyard for as long as is remembered. The inscrip-
tion consists of three lines. The first has four runes;
immediately below this is the second line with four Roman
letters, the same as the runes: D. P. S. F. The third line,
immediately below the second, is now illegible, but most
likely gave the date. The shape and characteristics of the
runes allow us to date the inscription somewhere shortly
after the Reformation and the object itself is thought to be
the gravestone to a man D... P... S(on) F(ámjin).
