According to these tables there are 262 carci- noma patients, besides 16 suffering from sarcoma and 6 from tumors of the brain. On page 53 these malignant tumors are classified according to location. 10. School-Inspection. In Iceland an obligatory medical examina- tion of all school-children takes place at the beginning of each session, especially with regard to tuberculosis. At the same time the sanitarv condition of tlie schools is inspected and all matters bearing upon Ihe health of the children are looked into. The inspection is under- taken hy the district medical officers. In Reykjavík, however, there are, special school medical officers. Table X shows the result of school inspection in the whole country with the exception of six districts comprising 13432 children. 11. Maternitij (see tables XII—XIV). The total number of births in 1941 was 2638 born alive and 56 stillborn, or 20,8%c of the total number.
