She received her Teaching Certification (Teaching Studies) from University of Iceland where she continued her studies and received a M.A. in Education with an emphasis on disability research and a Ph.D. in Disability Studies. Since 2003 she has been a teacher and a researcher at the Iceland University of Education and University of Iceland.
