Eight of the quotations from Egils Saga are lacking in DG 55, hut
there is no evidence that these were taken from a different MS from
the others. It is probable that they were present in Magnús’ original
glossary, and were omitted from DG 55 accidentally. Six of them are
under head-words beginning with Ma-, and there seems to have been
a definite omission of one or more pages of the original glossary in
DG 55 at this point (see above p. 35). The other two quotations are
under the words Skidgardur and Reckia, and both are the second
quotation illustrating their respective head-words; it seems that the
writer of DG 55 was often satisfied with only one quotation where
his exemplar had two or more (see above p. 36).
