THE SOURCES OF SPECIMEN LEXICI RUNICI
119
75 Logleisa: I Nialu: N: bad þa ad
fara ecke med slijka logleisu. —
This does not occur in Njála. The
idiom at /ara meS lögleysur is
found in ÓTM I 377:13—15: “Ok
ecki var hann fyrir þat raðinn fra
riki, at hann færi með slikar lgg-
leysur.” I have not been able to
find anything closer to tlie quota-
tion in SLR than tliis.
76 Lokatur: Ilac. I.: — This quota-
tion is from ÓTM II 4.
76 Lund: Niala: Hann var illa Lund-
kominn. — This does not occur
in Njáls Saga, and the word lund-
kominn is not recorded in any of
the dictionaries.
*81 Mann-Rauner. The first quotation
is from Egla 15, and the second
from Grettla 72. (This quotation
is under Mannspell in DG 55).
84 Metnadur: Gretl: Þorfinnur var
kapsmadur ... metnadar. -— This
is not from Grettla hut from
Orkneyinga saga 43. See above p.
93.
88 Muta. The poem Trollaslagur is
printed in fslenzkar gátur ... III
358. See ahove pp. 49—51.
91 Nid: Rhyt: — This verse is from
Þórður Magnússon’s Rollants
Ríntur. See above p. 112.
93 Niosn. Although ascribed to “01:
S:”, this quotation is from Orkn-
eyinga saga 49.
93 ad Niosna. Grettla 75.
96 Ofœra. “I J. S.”, but actually
from Grettla 85.
*98 Öheppiliga. Ascribed to “Gretl:”,
but in fact from OH 596.
98 Ojafnt: Hier er vid ojafnt at eiga.
— Grettla 99:14 v. 1. See above
p. 68.
98 Okeipis. Ascribed to “01 :S:”,
but in fact from Egla 65.
98 Okvidinn: R:Utraudur ögn hötar,
Oqvydinn mun eg
þo bijda. —
This is evidently intended to be
two lines of Dróttkvætt verse. The
secoml line would be regular
metrically it the words eg þo were
omitted. The first line, however,
demands that Utraudur be pro-
nounced with three syllables, as
otherwise the line would be a
syllable short. This implies that
the poem to which the lines be-
long was composed after the de-
velopment of the parasite vowel
between consonants and the end-
ing -r, i. e. probably after 1400. I
have not been able to identify the
poeni (“R:” probahly stands for
“Rhythmus” rather than for any
more precise indication of the
source).
100 Ospelct. The quotation ascribed
to “01 :S:” is from Grettla 96.
100 Ötraudur: Þor: [i. e. Þormóðr].
— These two lines are apparently
from v. 29 of Fóstbræðra Saga.
See above p. 99.
103 Prudur. The tliree names quoted
here are from Orms Þáttr Stór-
ólfssonar, Orkneyinga Saga, and
Víglundar Saga resp.
104 eg Qvœd: Sverke i Magnus Sogu:
— This proverb is from Fms VII
19. See below pp. 125—126.
