ascription to Knytlinga Saga, for
it is very unlikely that the re-
ference would he omitted both in
DG 55 and in the printed dic-
tionary. — The sentence does not
occur in Knytlinga Saga, and the
error must be due to Stephanius.
In DG 55 the next entry is Klœlc-
ur, under which there are two
quotations from Knytlinga Saga
in SLR, one of which is omitted
in DG 55. But they were probably
both present in the original glos-
sary (they are from tlie same sen-
tence in the saga, see above p. 92).
as also the reference to the source
(which is omitted in DG 55). It
may be that when copying the cn-
try under Kldrnhogg, Stephanius’
eye caught the words “Knytlinga
Saga” in the next entry, and that
he mistakenly applied them to
the Klamhogg entry. -— This sen-
tence is probably abstracted by
Magnús Ólafsson from the pas-
sage in Grágás Ia 147—148 and II
299, which he quotes more fully
under Oæll, p. 95 (see p. 106).

to Conjectanea itself. These proverbs found in Notæ Uberiores are listed by
Jakob Benediktsson, Landsbókasajn íslands. Arbók 1946—1947. In the order of
this list, the corresponding proverbs in Kallstenius’ edition of Rugman’s collec-
tion are nos. 252,456, 75,108,181, 282,103,179,148,207, 271, 463,66, 2, 343, 67.
These are from Conjectanca. The following may also be from material collected
by Brynjólfur: 256 (the next proverb and its variants are not in Rugman’s col-
lection), 330, 264, 279, 10, 281. — Note also no. 342: “Vyd kuæmur ó kiendur”,
which, as the editor suggests (Efterskörd, 23), is probably taken from Brynjólf-
ur’s note to Historia Danica V, 86:53, in Notœ Uberiores, 121. See above p. 47.
