As in the previous year influenza
and measles ran through the country,
both of them this time more than
averagly dangerous to life. Epidemics
of whooping cough, mgositis and
chickenpox were of some conse-
quence, and pneumonias proved unu-
sually frequent and noxious.
5. Venereal Diseases. Notified cases

Deaths from tuberculosis may by
classified as follows (last year’s fi-
gures in round brackets): Pulmonary
tuberculosis 27 (21), universal tuber-
culosis 1 (3), meningeal tuberculosis
3 (3), abdominal tuberculosis 0 (1),
tuberculosis of the urinary and ge-
nerative organs 0 (1).
During the last two decades death
from tuberculosis in Iceland has been
almost steadily decreasing, yet, with
a relative stand-still during the war,
and the last four years the fall of the
tuberculosis death rate is truly adven-
turous. In 1930 232 died from tuber-
culosis in Iceland (2.16 per 1000 of
