Ég vil þakka Arnþóri Garðarssyni alla rannsóknasamvinnuna í Laxá og
á Mývatni undanfarin 34 ár og fyrir að kynna mér rannsóknarmöguleik-
ana í Laxá árið 1976. Árni Einarsson, Haraldur Rafn Ingvason og Jón S.
Ólafsson lásu yfir handritið og færðu margt til betri vegar. Kann ég þeim

Gísli Már Gíslason (f. 1950) lauk BS-prófi í líffræði frá
Háskóla Íslands 1973 og eins árs framhaldsnámi í vist-
fræði sama ár. Hann lauk Ph.D.-prófi frá Háskólanum í
Newcastle upon Tyne, Englandi, 1978. Hann er prófessor
í vatnalíffræði við Háskóla Íslands.
