Hins vegar er nokkuð auðvelt að halda
þeim í skefjum. Það er hægt að eitra i
lokaöa skápa með góðum árangri.
Einnig má taka náttúrugripi, sem bjöll-
ur hafa lagst á og koma þeim fyrir í
frysti (-^-20°C) í um tvo sólarhringa.
Besti tíminn til þess að eitra fyrir ham-
bjöllurnarer sennilega fyrri hluti vetrar.
Þá ættu öll egg að hafa klakist og lirf-
urnar að vera á viðkvæmu stigi. Eggin
eru ekki eins viðkvæm fyrir eitrinu og
lirfurnar.

In January 1974 dermestid larvae were
discovered in the bird skin collection at the
Museum of Natural History, Reykjavík.
The larvae proved to belong to the North-
American species Reesa vesþulae (Mill.),
which has colonized northern Europe in the
last twenty years and become a serious pest
in certain museums.
