her Education Statistics Agency (HESA)
has used to obtain data from people who
completed a university education in the
UK. In addition to the British items, a few
questions that relate to the policy of the
University of Iceland were added. This
questionnaire was presented to the former
students of the University of Iceland who
graduated in 2010. In our questionnaire,
we added also several questions related
directly to the Leisure Studies program.
The main findings are that the former
students are generally pleased with the
program in Leisure Studies, which is
confirmed by 96% of the participants
agreeing or strongly agreeing with the
statement that they are pleased with their
education. The program has been useful
in their work and in continuing education
and it has strengthened them personally
and theoretically. It is safe to say that the
value and utility of the program appears
to be significant when it comes to practical
factors, such as preparation for the various
activities in the field of leisure, increased
confidence, as well as training in literature
and the ability to express themselves orally
and in writing. The program is also strong
when looking at aspects related to values,
social responsibility, moral judgment
and sustainability. The former students
described the program as being diverse
and enjoyable. They also mentioned a few
things that could strengthen the program
and some students found the program not
challenging enough. The results will be
useful to develop the program and make
it better.
