G(AM 309 4to)
The texts of the other three folio manuscripts are closely related. All
three consist of Laxdœla saga and Eyrbyggja saga. AM 123 fol. is dated
1664; through his scribe Þórður Þórðarson Arni Magnússon’s records that
it is “med hende Arnors Eyolfssonar a Flökastödum ur bök fra Árbæ sem eg
feck af Hakone Hannessyne”. Eyrbyggja saga occupies ff. 47v-81v. Of AM
124 fol. Árni Magnússon notes that Laxdœla saga in this manuscript “er
öefad deriverud ur fragmento membraneo in 4to, sem eg a, hvar a er framan
af Eyrbyggia Sögu, og ur Grettis Sögu [clearly G]. þetta exemplar er med
hendi Sr Jons Olafssonar i Fellzmula.” Árni Magnússon adds that Eyrbyggja
saga, too, is written by séra Jón Ólafsson.16 Kálund dates it to the end of the
seventeenth century. Eyrbyggja saga occupies ff. 84-137r. In AM 125 fol.
Laxdœla saga and Eyrbyggja saga are by different hands. Árni (through
Þórður Þórðarson17) records “Ur bök sem eg keypte 1711. af Sigurde á
Feriu, og tök sundur j Parta, var elldre enn 1683”. After ‘Laxdæla Saga’
and ‘Eyrbyggia Saga’ the titles ‘Bua saga’ and ‘Jökuls þáttur Bua sonar’
are crossed out. Eyrbyggja saga occupies ff. 23-28v.
The Eyrbyggja text of all these manuscripts continues to the end of the
saga, but from where G now comes to an end (in chapter 27) the text has
been derived (directly or indirectly) from AM 446 4to. G’s last clear word
(on 38vb) is ‘þorodde’ (= W 27.33). After this the following variants of AM
446 4to from W are paralleled in 123-125:
W 27.35 er2] ad.
27.37 en nu] eitt sinn.
27.41 mundu uið] vendu med 446, venda med 123-125.

rived, has ‘skartz’).

the others.)
