These figures are based upon nionthly reports from physicians, but
in the annual report on hydatid disease, which comprises all medical
districts in this country, 29 cases are notfied.

In addition to the monthly reports frora district niedical officers,
on which the above survey is based, medical officers in all districts,
excejit five, have raade aut a list showing the incidence of inalignant
tumors during the year. According to these tables there are 230 carci-
noraa patients, besides 10 suffering from sarcoraa and 4 frora tuinors
of the brain. ()n page 07—08 these raalignant turaors are classified
according to location.
10. School-Inspection. In Iceland an obligatory raedical examina--
tion of all school-ehildren takes jilace at the beginning of eacli session,
especially with regard to tuberculosis. At the same time the sanitary
condition of the schools is inspected and all matters bearing u])on
the health of tlie children are tooked into. The inspection is under-
taken by the district raedical officers. In Reykjavik, however, there are
special school medical officers. Table X shows thc result of school
inspection in the whole country with the exception of five districts
coraprising 13152 children.
