Guattari með gagnrýni sinni. Hvað er bogið við áherslu sálgreiningarinnar á Ödip-
usarduldina og þríhyrning móður, föður og barns, hvers vegna er mikilvægt að gagn-
rýna þessa áherslu og hvað á að koma í staðinn? Tekist er á við þessar spurningar með
umræðu um lykilatriði á borð við tvíhyggju hvatalífsins hjá Freud, hugmyndir um
siðfræði og siðferði sem Deleuze sækir til Spinoza, og að lokum hugmyndir Deleuze
og Guattari um frjálst flæði – eða frjálsa framleiðslu – hins dulvitaða, líkamlega eða
efnislega, sem þeir tengdu við kleyfhugasýki og greiningaraðferðina kleyfgreiningu.

Let it flow: Deleuze and Guattari’s
Encounter with Freud’s Oedipal Model
Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalysis has long been a major influence in French
philosophy. This paper sets out to explore Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari’s phil-
osophical critique of psychoanalysis, the main target of which was the idea of the
Oedipal complex with its (extraordinary) emphasis on the relation between father,
mother and child. The aim is to arrive at a comprehension of the motive of Deleuze
and Guattari’s critique. What is wrong with the psychoanalytic emphasis on the
Oedipal complex and on the triangle ‘mother-father-child’, why is it necessary to
criticize this emphasis and what sort of conception should take its place? These
questions are tackled through a discussion of key issues such as the dualism of in-
stincts in Freud, the difference between ethics and morality that Deleuze finds in
Spinoza, and ultimately Deleuze and Guattari’s conception of free flow – or produc-
tion – of the subconscious, or of the physical or the material, which they related to
schizophrenia and the method they propose to call schizoanalysis.
